Eyelift (Blepharoplasty) - Eyelid Surgery
Cosmetic eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, corrects problems of excessive skin, fat protrusions and wrinkling that create ‘the tired or sad look’. The result of blepharoplasty is a brighter, more alert and rested look to the eyes and face.
How Eyelid Surgery Works
Upper eyelid surgery places an incision within the natural crease, to remove excess skin and fat. In the healing process this incision is well camouflaged. Asians request the creation of a crease in the upper eyelid (double eyelid), which enhances the beauty of the eyes.
Lower eyelid surgery is done by placing an incision just below the eyelash margin (an external approach) or inside the eyelid (an internal approach called transconjunctival blepharoplasty). Through these incisions, excess skin and fat are removed. In some patients who have a “hollow” or “sunken” look to their eyes the fat may be repositioned to fill these areas.
Eyelift Surgery Recovery
Eyelid skin is very favorable for healing, with most patients up and about the day after surgery, and sutures removed within one week. To further reduce swelling and bruising, Dr. Dmytryshyn uses a laser to remove excessive skin and fat. Discomfort from this procedure is minimal.
